If you’re online and trying to build any kind of business, it’s a good idea to at least learn the basics of webdesign. Why you ask?
Knowing how to build your own website will not only give you more freedom and control but it’ll also save you tons of money. And you don’t need to know all of the ins and outs and techy stuff to get started, that stuff you’ll learn as you go…trust me!
When I first started online 7 years ago, I didn’t even understand the internet (remember those days?) I spent hours surfing and learning and it wasn’t long before I fell into the internet marketing funnel…once I was in I was hooked. So I grabbed a few ideas and headed off to where? Where else but the free hosting/building sites, YUCK!
Hey, we all have to start somewhere, and those sites gave me the foundation and understanding I needed to get to where I am today. After hours and hours of first playing with the built in templates, then customizing other templates I’d find, I finally got the hang of it and took off from there.
I am rather persistant though, and once I get something in my head, I will work until I get it all figured out. Since then I have built hundreds of sites and enjoyed the creation of each and every one.
So why am I telling you this? Well, if you are here, you are obviously looking to make money online. And one of the best ways to fully maximize your potential (at least while you build up your income) is to save the money and build your own sites or blogs. It’s not that hard once you get going, but there is a learning curver and I’ve got 2 ways to help you minimize the time and frustration of learning.
1) Software
I am going to boast a piece of software I use here so be prepared:) Recently I started looking for a software that can help me build sites faster and keep it automatically updated as I create and add new pages. When I started out I was using a software that only worked in html (no visual tools like you find now), then I moved to dreamweaver which I love without a doubt, but I wanted something simplier and a little more automated.
So, in my quest I stumbled upon XSitePro. I looked at it a few times, kept going back and reading more about it, then finally took the plunge and bought it.
Man, was I impressed! It offers so many tools and makes everything sooooooo easy that I was building full sites, fully optimized in 1 day.
Now, I know there will be pros out with their own comments, so to appease you, yes, there are a few restrictions that I can see, BUT and I do mean BUT, I haven’t even watched a tutorial yet to get a real glimpse of it’s true potential. With this software you can build anything including ecommerce sites (but honestly, I haven’t looked into that yet).
What I can tell you is that if you are new to web building or looking for a simple and easy to use software for creating everything from full sites to squeeze pages, XSitePro is definitely worth a look.

I promise this isn’t just hype, I actually and truly love this software (and I don’t say that easily).
2) Teach Yourself
For those of you who are determined to learn the full scope of design or maybe just understand a few aspects a little better (like css), then this website is definitely worth a look.
Webdesign from Scratch is an easy to understand site that will walk you through every aspect of web design from css to accessibility and everything in between.

I hope this helps you get started:)
