If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
We’ve just downloaded Michelle McPherson’s newest Web 2.0 guide “Social Media Daily” and WOW! It’s an absolute beaut!
This ebook is a step-by-step guide to Social Media and Web 2.0 traffic generation and link building. Michelle walks you through the understanding of both web 2.0 and link building, then gives you a comprehensive check list that anyone can follow easily.
I’ll be honest it’s a lot of work and when you first glance through it sure seems overwhelming, but if you break it down and take little steps like she suggests, you will see results.
We’ve already started applying it to 2 of our sites and have seen an incredible increase in traffic….and we’ve only made it past the second section!
The first thing you need to do is download your own copy (unbelievably, she’s even made it free!), then print it out and GET STARTED.
DOWNLOAD Social Media Daily Here
Then be sure and take action.
Thanks Michelle for such a wonderful resource!

Hacked! Are YOU Vulnerable?
Filed Under Misc. Reviews | Leave a Comment
As you know we decided to include an article directory on our site specifically for internet marketers. Well, I found a script I had received from one of those free giveaway sites (you know the ones….you agree to join their mailing list in exchange for free products, ebooks etc.) and thought I’d dust it off and put it to good use.
Hmmmm….a few days later (maybe a week) I go to my website to find a message saying my account was suspended, please contact the administrator. YIKES! What in the world???
So, it’s 11:30 at night and I contact my host. Now, I have a reseller account so I have quite a few domains involved here, and that made me crazy! Not only could my own sites be affected, but those of my clients. Anyway, he checks it out and says he can’t see the account as being suspended (of course in my panic I didn’t think to check all of my domains) so I went on to explain and give him the exact url…then I accidentally hung up on him.
I log into my main control and re-set the account…whew! All is good, I can sleep now. Next morning, wham, it’s down again! Then I get an email from my host (seems even though I hung up on him, he continued to investigate…great guys over at Myriad don’t ya think?) saying that I had been hacked and they had disabled the offending script…the article directory.
My account was restored and in fine working order except for the 44,000 emails in 1 day that went through my account by those stupid hackers (they really need a life or a job lol). Again, my host came to my rescue and deleted the emails. Could you imagine? It would have taken me days to manually delete those things!
Anyway, what’s the moral of my story? Be careful when using free scripts. The thought is nice but older versions you have sitting on your hard drive could cause you major damage, downtime and even affect your income. I got off rather easy as it was all taken care of relatively quickly, but it could have been much, much worse.
I did a search to see if I could get an updated version of the script, typed in the name and voila! I ended up with pages of warnings about this particular script and its vulnerability issues which leads me to lesson number 2. Before you install scripts you’ve got sitting on your hard drive, search out the source provider and see if there are any known issues.
So in case you have downloaded this script, and I am sure many of you have, here’s the link to the fix:
Source: ArticleBeach
File: 176ArticleSiteDir
Fix link: http://www.mynethelp.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=8
And for some added resource, in my search I came across another site with a HUGE list of web application vulnerabilities on scripts that many of you may be using including:
XOOPS, WordPress (various older versions), PHP Classifieds, PHPmyAdmin, phpBB, osCommerce, and many many more.
Depending on when you installed your applications, you could be ok, but I would check this page to make sure and if your version is listed, find the fix and install it immediately.
Our article directory is back up and hopefully with the new fix we won’t have any more problems. We’ll be keeping a close eye from now on and checking, re-checking and checking again any software we put on our servers. You should too.
